Working together with other law firms, EKSM secured a $454,000 settlement with Johnson & Wales University, resolving data privacy claims arising out of the cybersecurity incident that occurred in July 2024. The claims, which sought an award of actual damages, compensatory damages, statutory damages, and more, were brought by our plaintiff on behalf of all persons to whom Johnson & Wales University arranged to have sent a notice of the security incident. Under the agreement, in which Johnson & Wales University did not admit to liability, the Defendant settled all disputes with a payment in the amount of $454,000.
